When most people talk about weekend “binge watching” {a.k.a. “Netflix and chill”} they might be thinking House of Cards, Suits or Downton Abbey. And yes, those are some of my favorites. But if you say “binge watching” to me? Top of mind, it’s Cooked, Chef’s Table and I’ll Have What Phil’s Having. Continue Reading →

Multi-Seed Crackers {The Worst Salesperson on the Planet}
Sometimes I whip up something so tasty, I think I could sell it. And then I remember – I’m a horrible salesperson! Don’t believe me? Just ask Husband. He loves to share the story. Continue Reading →
No-Knead Stealth Bread {and Cookbook Giveaway!}
You’ve no doubt pondered the question: If there was one food that you could eat as much as you want, with no-down side, what would it be? Steak Diane? Linguine Alfredo? Boston Cream Pie? Continue Reading →
Huckleberry Zucchini Bread
When you bring home souvenirs from a trip, do you pick up a coffee mug? A refrigerator magnet? Maybe a t-shirt? To commemorate an incredible vacation in Idaho, I just carefully transported — in a cooler, for the 21-hour drive covering 4 states, a very precious memento. A small ziplock bag full of… huckleberries. Continue Reading →
Whole-Grain Bran Muffins
My current morning routine includes a cup of my absolutely-necessary-and-don’t-even-try-to-reason-with-me-until-I’ve-had-it coffee. And one of these Whole Grain Bran Muffins. I’ll savor one while I linger over “quiet time” to start the day – or eat one en route to an early morning meeting.
Gougères {Gruyere Cheese Puffs}
Grilled Pizza Crusts
{Note: I wrote this post while on vacation – and promptly forgot to share it! Today, I’m making a big batch of these Grilled Pizza Crusts for an upcoming party, which jarred my memory. Enjoy!}
Greetings from my happy place! Husband and I are in the middle of our annual western vacation in Idaho. And by vacation, I mean long days which usually end with us filthy, sweaty, sore and exhausted. We love it.
{Naughty Alert!} Cinnamon Swirl Bread
One of the things I love about our annual vacation in Idaho is that I can start each day at my own pace. And that usually means quietly enjoying a cup of black coffee and a piece of toast. {Contrary to popular opinion, I’m a simple gal.}
This year though, the toast was anything but ordinary. I’ve already shared how generous some of my new girlfriends from the ranch are, having shared the fruits {well, vegetables} of their gardening labors.

Creme Brûlée French Toast {a.k.a.The Miracle}
This Creme Brulee French Toast recipe is one you pull out when you need the heavy ammo. For example, let’s say you’re asked to make breakfast for teenagers, but you forgot to have children of your own, so you have no idea what they eat. Except that they eat a lot. OK, we’re talking about me.
Anyhooo… we were joining friends at their cabin for the 4th of July a few years ago. The kids greatly outnumbered the adults, and the couples split up cooking duties. I drew breakfast. This was no time for experimentation – I had to launch a missile! After all, we wanted to be invited back!

Pear & Fig & Caramelized Onion Flatbread
We are getting a little anxious for spring and summer to arrive here in Minnesota… When it does, we fire up the Weber regularly. When I got over my fear of the grill (I was sure I’d blow up the house) I started grilling everything!
Our favorite go-to griller? It’s flatbread, hands down!
{First, a note about grilling: If you’re a charcoal purist, forgive me, but for “Grilling 101” I needed the heat control of gas. Speaking of heat control, you’ve probably already figured out not to get too close to your subject to peek for doneness. I’ve been known to melt my mascara just enough to threaten sealing my eyes shut. Anyway, I hope to move up to charcoal someday, but right now, I just light a charcoal-scented candle to create the ambiance. I’m kidding about the candle. Kind of.*}
